Nanchang CJ6A
The Nanchang design work was carried out in China
during the 1950s. Produced in large numbers, the
prototype first flew in 1961. The design was so
popular, it was placed in service with numerous
air forces around the world including Albania,
Zambia, Sri Lanka, North Korea and China. Armed
versions were also used for weapons training and
light ground attack operations. Our Nanchang served
twenty years with the Peoples Liberation Army
Air force (PLAAF) in China. She was then sold
to private interests in Australia where she flew
for several years prior to being purchased by
Egon and Sharyn of Highland Warbirds. She received
a ground up restoration and is now used in company
operations and display flying. |
YAK–52
The Yak-52 was designed by the famous Yakovlev
Design Bureau in Russia. With a distinguished
line of fighter aircraft dating back to World
War 2, Yakovlev designed the Yak-52 during the
1970s. Renowned for its exceptional agility and
aerobatic capabilities, it was predominately operated
by DOSAAF, a Russian para-military organisation,
in a training role. It would be fair to say that
most current Russian Mig Pilots honed their skill
on the Yak-52. Built behind the Iron Curtain,
our Yak came to Australia from Russia in 1996.
After careful selection, she was purchased for
company operations in 2004. |
